Native shrub: oak leaf hydrangea. This one is Hydrangea quercifolia 'Brido' SNOWFLAKE and has these exquisite double blossoms, layered on top of one another along cone-shaped panicles, often more than a foot long. In August they begin to turn to lovely shades of golden caramel-pink. First introduced into cultivation by Aldridge Nursery, Alabama in the 1970's. Pruning tips: blooms on old wood, so prune immediately after bloom.
