You lose a little piece of your soul when you see that kind of stuff. A tiny piece of the remainder of your childlike innocence is gone. Your ability to smile and laugh and be happy is diminished, and a numbness fills the gap. I'd prescribe a whole day and night of running and playing with a dog. Gather the courage to say hi to some family members for no reason. Or get your mind occupied on something good and wholesome somehow, and just stay there for as long as you can.

It's enough to know that there is no depth of cruelty that hasn't been done by men to everything and everyone. There is no bottom of the pit, it is an endless abyss of cruelty. Don't watch it, it hurts you.
