Abdullah bin Zayed receives the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian transitional government

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received today in Abu Dhabi, HE Asad al-Shibani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Transitional Government. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed HE Asad al-Shibani and his accompanying delegation, and discussed ways to strengthen the fraternal and historic ties between the two countries and their peoples in areas of common interest, as well as the latest developments in the Syrian Arab Republic and the current regional situation, in addition to several issues of common concern. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated during the meeting the UAE's consistent stance in supporting Syria's independence and sovereignty over its entire territory. He also emphasized the UAE's stand alongside the Syrian people and its support for all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving their aspirations for security, stability, and a decent life. He stressed the importance of providing all necessary security and stability factors for the Syrian people, in order to ensure a future of prosperity, progress, and development. The meeting was attended by HE Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Fadel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, HE Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, HE Khalifa Shahin Al Marar, Minister of State, HE Lana Zaki Nsouli, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Saif Mubarak Al Hajri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Commercial Affairs, and Hassan Ahmed Al Shihabi, Ambassador of the State to the Syrian Arab Republic. The Syrian delegation included HE Maher Abu Qasr, Minister of Defence, HE Omar Al Shaghoury, Minister of Electricity, HE Ghias Diab, Minister of Oil and Mineral Wealth, and Anas Khatib, Director-General of General Intelligence.
