Peace summit must demonstrate support for international law – Czech diplomat

The participation of many countries in the Global Peace Summit next month will be a step forward towards a lasting and just peace in Ukraine, according to Jan Marian, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic expects the summit to demonstrate and confirm the international community's support for the principles of international law that Russia has violated. It is also important to engage with partners from the Global South to explain the core of the Russian aggression and its impact on global order and stability. The Czech Republic, along with France, Japan, and Sweden, chairs the working group on nuclear and radiation safety in President Volodymyr Zelensky's 10-point peace plan. The group recently held a working meeting involving 26 delegations and focused on fostering nuclear safety and security of Ukrainian nuclear power plants. The Global Peace Summit will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16, with President Petr Pavel representing the Czech Republic.
