While it is true that the elements nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen are found in rocket fuel, they cannot be used as a propellant for a spacecraft. In order to generate enough thrust to propel a spacecraft, a combination of volatile chemicals, such as liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen, must be used, which create an exothermic reaction when ignited within a combustion chamber. Just the elements nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen cannot be used to generate this kind of reaction, and therefore cannot be used as a propellant for a spacecraft.
