recently i took an uber to the airport. it was an early flight so the uber arrived at like 2:30am. based on the unusual name i assumed it would be a guy and that he was of African heritage, neither of which i was ever able to confirm which to me is just a hilarious side note. they had almost 3,000 trips logged and nearly 5 star rating. so far so good.
this person did not say a word to me the whole time, which would normally be ideal. however: he/she had the windows down and was passionately singing Bob Marley tunes the entire time. 3 Little Birds. No Woman No Cry. really feeling it despite clearly not being a singer.
now, on the one hand it's 2:30am so please stfu. through this lens it was completely jarring and annoying. i had had no coffee and was barely sentient.
on the other hand, I actually love Bob Marley tunes and there's something heartening about someone driving cars for a living in the middle of the night and in the most cheerful of moods. we probably need more of that in the world.
but at 2:30am?!
anyway, i'm still torn on how i felt about that ride.
