I do feel for those that have been harmed and we should be pissed about that, but what pisses me off is the philosophy of it. The idea that there is some special sin that is totally unforgivable and that Jesus did not die for. Any church that doesn't believe that we are all equally sinners is a church not worth belonging to (which is why I left the Catholic church.)
I don't often agree with the Pope, but when he said that people don't have to undergo some sort of minute moral inquistion (or words to that effect). Nobody asked me or my girlfriend what had done before we got married. According to the church, premarital sex is just as wrong as homosexual sex. So, we shouldn't have been allowed to be married, right? But no one dared to ask. Or something like that.
I will also say calling premarital sex, homosexual sex or any other consenting behavior among adults a "sin" is yet another reason I left the church.
