an old lady excused a weird behaivor because "she used to have a not-so-nice husband that would throw her down the stairs." as always, i smile and try to be kind, but i wonder what makes people discuss their disabilities in public with strangers. does she want my sympathy or was that a declaration that she is going to behave anyway that she wants because something bad happened to her.
