Why don't most of the top 10% of earners in the UK feel rich?
because the top 1% are so much richer than them.
If you earn over £59,200 you are in the top 10% of earners (full disclosure; as a uni Prof I retired on a salary of around £75,000).
But the top 1% enjoy a salary of £183,000 or more... so many in the top 10% are actually nearer the median national salary than the richest 1%....
This has significant #political consequences, set out here by Anoosh Chakelain
