I really don’t like the argument that queers shouldn’t arm themselves because we’ll just use it to kill ourselves. that’s true for some people and that is important for everyone to be aware of fr themself, but it also makes it all the more important that queers who can be safely armed do so and train and be prepared to defend those who can’t. it’s also just reductive and I think plays into stereotypes about our fragility and being a danger to ourselves so we shouldn’t have rights, etc.
it’s not a universal narrative. I’ve been dangerously suicidal before but never did I consider using my gun for it. it’s safe for me to have it.
