For the record: Russia is not and has never been in any hurry. Time is on their side. NATO currently cannot physically meet Ukrainian demand for materiel, NATO economies are on the precipice, the USA is in an extremely precarious situation. Best case scenario is deliveries start to match demand sometime in 2025 or 2026. I think this is extremely unlikely but that's the optimistic timetable.
In the meantime, 50k Wagner mercenaries (probably about half ex-cons) took 20% casualties to dislodge the cream of the Ukrainian army from their chosen battlespace, at the cost of tens of thousands of irrecoverable losses on the losing side, not to mention the damage to morale (Ukrainian battalion commander just got fragged on video) and materiel. The regular Russian Army, meanwhile, is unscathed.
