Followup to my experiment reading tech journals on a Kobo Elipsa 2E: it's great and I had nothing to be worried about. Communications of the ACM was 98% readable when zoomed out, and it zooms in really quickly with a double-tap. 2600 is 100% readable while zoomed out. Various LaTeX papers are crystal clear.
In short, it’s what all I hoped it would be, and none of what I feared it might be.
