This is an interesting 1. I'm a huge fan of a short, daily stand up to kick off the day for each team (3-10 people) and 1 or 2 weekly org meetings to highlight what each team is doing and anything particularly interesting or complicated.
In a large org, this is critical for mutual accountability (which makes you "toxic" to lazy assholes) and builds huge admiration, dedication, and knowledge for your hard workers. Never let a meeting gor more than 30 mon for the organization amd 15 for the team.
I've found huge operational success with this and huge personal failure as the lazy assholes complain so much about their lack of work making them such obvious pieces of shit, that I've been moved 4/5 times, but the teams continued to win and my best folks always follow me.
This is all from the perspective of a federal organization that simply doesn't fire people but moves them around.
