If I was the head of the US sovereign wealth fund (and Treasury Secretary), I'd drain the LBMA of its physical gold and break the paper gold market suppression.
Bring it all to the CME. Let the "free market" revalue the price, use the difference between the $42/Oz currently on the balance sheet to buy BTC. Then start issuing long dated, 0 coupon redeemable bonds backed by both assets to cover the $7T worth of debt that will need to be rolled this year.
