I've been saying it for months, but every time, an army of "free and open source enthusiasts" would come out of the woods to argue that making it easier for people to join is bad, actually, and that if you don't want to learn 100 new terms and workflows that normal people don't care about, you don't deserve to even glance upon the holy grail that is Mastodon.
