Having tinkered with it for a few days on an old laptop, the best analogy I can think of to compare a conventional Linux distro and #NixOS is to compare hand carving to a programmable milling machine. Learning curve at the start but after a while many things become much quicker and easier. Repeating things is easier. Extreme customization is harder. Common things are mostly automatic. Have I decided to repave my daily drivers with NixOS? Not yet.
