The Dutch government is reportedly planning to change the 80 million that NS has to pay for its exclusive concession into a 13 million subsidy. Not, mind you, to keep public transport affordable but as a workaround for EU rules blocking a direct award of the concession.
NS’ financial issues will obviously be solved through higher ticket prices and shiny new peek hour surcharges.
