In the 16th century, Martin Luther made a powerful point about fully following Christ, fearlessly following Christ in the face of opposition -- a point which remains as powerful in these waning weeks of 2024:
"If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except … that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I[’m] not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield [on all other counts], is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point."
I've read that several times. I remain speechless before its truth.
