I'm reading a book right now that, about 11 pages in, I want to magically become an editor so I can say to the author, "not everything has to be simile'd or metaphor'd. Not every line needs to be undulating like a snake or hunched over like a sad bear or shining like a Roman coin found in a chattering stream."
Sometimes the sky can just be blue, the grass can just be green, sometimes a banana is... just a banana.
