See my essays yesterday for what's really happening or the link below for a lightly edited collection of them, and I'll add Intel is building a lot of new fabs, is not at all depending on CHIPS money for it. I mean, who would be insane enough to rely on the Feds doing the right thing with a minuscule for this domain $39 billion dollar budget. Manufacturers will of course take the money if the terms aren't too onerous, but that's another thing altogether.

That said, if Xi tries hard enough to take Taiwan there will be a world wide depression because so much of our logic chips come from that island, not just the high end stuff but also a lot of small and "glue" chips like drivers for LCD displays. Could be the straw that breaks the back of the USA.
