Over the past two years, I've realized that promoters of lesser cryptocurrencies—often called "shitcoins"—will go to great lengths to lure you away from Bitcoin.
They claim their coins are faster, more secure, and somehow defy the laws of physics.
They'll argue that Bitcoin is outdated technology and push you to invest in their coin instead.
When I first delved into Bitcoin, I was motivated by the prospect of making more conventional money.
I ventured down the path of these alternative cryptocurrencies because they appeared to offer a quick path to wealth.
But that promise is an illusion.
These promoters never discuss the opportunity costs associated with their networks.
They won't admit it, but their coins compromise either SECURITY or DECENTRALIZATION.
They boast that their coin has solved the blockchain trilemma.
This is simply not possible.
All choices have trade-offs, and they fail to disclose the real costs of choosing their cryptocurrency.
Now back to cooking breakfast 🍳 🥔 🍖
