As I look at a replacement phone, it occurs to me that I've been off the smartphone treadmill for a long time now. I'd probably still be using my old Pixel 3XL right now if given the choice, I only switched to my current phone when the 3XL reached EOL. Assuming I can nurse the battery on my current one, it has another ~18 months to go before EOL.
The 3XL was enough phone for me, I just wanted to be able to keep using it. Maybe the rest of my life now will be a slow decline in my satisfaction with phones, as each forced upgrade brings more unnecessary stuff because the phone makers have to keep inventing solutions to non-problems in order to maintain infinite growth :(
