this feels pretty dead on to me. I think it’s building from the “mastodon is super nice!” vibe that a lot of white (cis, abled, straight, etc) men get on here (clearly it doesn’t extend to everyone, but they don’t realize that) - they generalize their own vibes-based experience of things being super nice and assume that everyone’s having that kind of time and therefore will be nice back. So I guess the upside is that it might make them *vaguely* more polite.
