Had do abandon Podman (and Podman Desktop) and go back to Docker on my Macbook. Unfortunately podman-compose just isn’t sufficiently compatible with docker-compose if you have to collaborate with other developers who use mainly docker-compose.
It’s a close call though. If you don’t have to rely on existing interdependencies and healthchecks you should be fine though.
