It's because we (now) live in a politically correct world. Memes and those edge lord(y) 'one liners' are safe. Just look at Fedi, as an Instance admin, if you write something unpopular that's against the narrative (e.g. anti-LGBTQ) or harshly reply to someone who's (what I call) a FediFluencer, you'll be fediblocked.
