That was, in turn, water cooled (via a heat pump, I assume) so there was a certain amount of paranoia about leaks in the computer room hence water sensors under the floor.

Imperial College London had a 7600 where I heard this story though I think it was from another site. Apparently somebody screwed the sensors to wooden battens which, when the inevitable leak happened, floated so the sensors didn't actually experience any water until the underfloor cavity was full. Oops.
