running a #tor node is pretty nice and easy these days.I seem to get 200mb in 50mb out every day wtih 25kbps average io. the node stays up without hiccups. I'd say consider running a tor relay, that helps us privacy minded folks a lot. Mastodon over tor is usable with the exception of videos that load too slowly to watch and most links to surveillance capitalist shitholes like youtube. with that one you can live with.
