Can any French (Canadian) speaker explain what the 'Chaudière' means in 'Régiment de la Chaudière'.
The name seems to have been created at the same time as the unit was designated a machine gun purpose. The word was an old term for a gun? All I can find is translations that say 'boiler' or 'bucket'. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A9giment_de_la_Chaudi%C3%A8re
