Soapbox is currently going through an internal part swap, causing crashing. I've tried to revert to a previous version, but the command line tool only installs the latest broken version no matter what flags I pass. And trying to install the classic way has been unfruitful.

So for the time being I've installed pleroma-fe, which gets the job done.
