As part of its 10-year Lunar Architecture Capability Study, USA's DARPA has awarded a contract to Northrop Grumman to plan a lunar railway. This Moon-based railroad network could transport humans, supplies, and raw materials back and forth across the lunar surface. Their proposal will define the resources to build the rail system using robots to construct and operate it, as well as maintenance and repair.
