I think antagonists ought to be round every corner, and uncountable. I don't like to believe in evil in real life, so I tend to portray conflict between people/forces who oppose because of different wants/needs, rather than one is 'good' and one 'bad'. My favourite review ever describes my characters all as a mixture of hero, villain and person needing rescue.
