I wonder what setting that project up cost to coordinate all the external funders, write all the texts, do all the PR, etc. GitHub could just have taken that money and given it out as no strings attached grants to projects. Do a lottery so projects don't have to write boilerplate text or people need to judge the boilerplate text.
