Trains used Steam engines. Many farmers were still using animals to plow fields. Some armies still used horses. No jet engines. Most objects were made of metal or wood, not plastic. The petroleum use in the first quarter of the 20th century was small. The heavy use petroleum if the last hundred years supercharged global warming. 100 years is not that long.
