Continuing these thoughts, if you migrate to a new platform in sync with other people you know from another platform, you also import your established attitudes/habits of like and dislike and interpersonal dynamics from the previous platform.
Often, alternative platforms fail to develop a unique new culture of their own since the dynamics were established on a different platform and imported onto the new one. Too much immigration too fast overwhelms the unique culture of the newer platform. I’ve seen this with different types of breakaway groups. It can seem like the main topic of discussion is “why the previous platform sucks.”
For instance, I see that Vitalik Buterin has joined. If I start taunting him for being a “shitcoiner,” I’ve imported the dynamics of a different platform.
I hope this doesn’t happen, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t.
