sometime i will have a chat about it... from a technical standpoint the most difficult feature is the source routing (clients/payees define the payment path and the nodes on the path can blip out between creating it and spending over it) - and the total lack of support for more anonymous keysend and AMP payments in almost all clients is ... retarded
but those are my two main points of contention with lightning, i understand the payment flow protocol and why it is why it is based on the bitcoin transactions, and how it can't be path-routed like TCP/UDP because it isn't a simple bearer token (this is where fediment could be quite cool but it won't scale as big as lightning).
so, yeah, i like lightning, and my experience with it has improved more and more over time and now i run my own node (well, i rent a node, and control it) so for me, LN is totally a thing, and i think it's nearing sufficient maturity to be widespread, and sufficiently easy to self-host for those who need that... i mean, i can give you an LN account through my node, like, i'd charge nothing for that to a friend
that's starting to be a whole different equation, i think, but stella tells me it's a bit unreliable at this point... probably this is just NWC plumbing that is to blame
