Ardainian Right (npub1lhh…adds) Xenoblade 2 is home to a bunch of fully realized and unique civilizations, none of which are really evil (not even the one that becomes a Hostile Power later on, that's just the leader being a dick), and that pays off in terms of said comfy levels. Xenoblade 1 has a limited number of comfy areas because most Homs Colonies have been destroyed by the Mechon. Xenoblade 3's colonies generally become very comfy (especially Fiona and Valdi's colonies) once they've been freed and the party has proven itself to the soldiers.
In the end, it's important that the world created is a world you WANT to protect, to save or to make better, depending on the story.
