For anyone looking to replace for WhatSapp or TellMeGram, I recommend looking into federated and distributed (P2P) chat networks; XMPP, matrix, delta.chat (uses the email network), Jami, Tox, Briar, Nostr etc. At minimum, look for networks with Free Code software available for both apps *and* servers. For all their flaws (centralisation being the main one), Wire and Signal are head and shoulders above WhatSapp *or* TellMeGram (their server software is proprietary).
