I love sandwiches and have enjoyed many. One of the most memorable was made by a friend in college: toasted bagel made in our co-op with cream cheese and lox, capers and black pepper. He made it for me because I was running late for class but he obviously put care into it. I remember it because I didn’t think genuine affection between guys was a thing; my tears of relief and pleasure froze to my face on the way to class because February in Ohio.
