(Now, I think that was not a yield managed price, but a different kind of fare).
The main incentive to purchase A - B - C as one unit is the new Billet Direct guarantees, which, AFAIK wouldn't apply if you purchased A-B + B-C (and while I've often had to go complain that there AI had not indemnified me correctly, each time I ended up correctly indemnified of the cost of A - B - C, and on the final delay at C). Also got the automated e-mail rebooking me on the following train when that happened. (TGV - TGV connections though, with the first one delayed).
