npub1ddpukxz4rkcadch7gu5hqre42lju5spyg2ph747yvgysathy4ulqye2tax (npub1ddp…2tax) npub1eeujhtd8lgaqey3jrw20mr0d90z0l635d4efltghe7qdc0fcurnqr7u43z (npub1eeu…u43z) where we stop agreeing is "most people would not vote for it".
it's very difficult to get most people to vote for it, but it's not impossible. again, the polling shows they want it.
but we have to break through the propaganda. the propaganda works, in part, by defining the conversation. we talk about high taxes/low taxes. we don't talk (nationally) in an even marginally nuanced sense, i.e. less taxes for a DOD that fails every audit it has ever had. or less taxes for 90% of us and more taxes for the 10% on the top. etc etc.
now the solution is exactly as it is on the right. it needs to be a multi pronged approach and we need to be able to see the sum of all parts. voter participation, especially primary battles where incumbents are weakest, is one *part* of the solution. it's certainly not the whole package (as many an anarchist will be quick to point out). Union membership and strikes are another part of this solution. everyone wants a general strike as if anything less isn't worth it. but you look at the last couple of years, and many many workers across the country have gotten decent boosts to their incomes (UPS, UofCali TAs, concrete workers in the northwest, and Amazon employees). and these income boosts are more than just income boosts. they allow for the free time and piece of mind for the working class to read more, discuss more, organize more and take control of their communities.
we have to attack on every front that we can.
