Right now it depends on the client you use. Nostgram is great at filtering spam in global. Damus is currently working on it. As for how to get around it adding paid relays helps as many bots won’t pay the small fee. Relay runners are currently building out solutions to better manage spam at the relay level and that will come in time with relay maturation.
