When I was a kid, my mom referred to my grandmother and 6 great aunts as “the Polish mafia” and I legit thought they were some sort of crime syndicate that nobody talked about. But all it was in reference to was their ability to hold a grudge if you fell out of line. In my defense most of them lived in Cicero IL, which legit had Italian mafia types at the time 😂
