Whenever friends visit the city and want to do things, I discover that NYC is "very crowded" a fact that I do not notice normally since I plan everything carefully to avoid crowds.
It would never occur to me to go to the MET on a Saturday afternoon (9am or weekdays only!) or walk the Highline on a sunny day on a weekend ... or even ride certain trains at certain times.
But visitors make their plans without me and I only remember doing things at normal times means crowds and lines after.
