You Will (Not) Escape ☸️ (nprofile…ake6) yeah they're moving away from it as a core feature because the big email providers keep breaking things. e.g., impossible to use with Outlook/Hotmail now because they don't allow any normal auth mechanisms. You have to use their OAuth flow or the crap built into the Outlook desktop client.

But like, if you were using a normal setup with some mix of Sendmail/Postfix/Exim/Dovecot/Cyrus it would work perfectly fine. With the caveat that you can't get push notifications.
