Soooooo. Things are not great. Agenda 47 and Project 2025 both call out the trans community specifically in bad ways.
The area I’m in 80% for Trump. That’s less than stellar.
I want to acknowledge that I am privileged and more fortunate than others in several ways. I’m (mostly) middle class, if lower middle class. I’m white. I pass at a glance. I’ve been able to get quality trans healthcare. These things play in my favor, but they do not necessarily make me feel safe, and they do not protect my healthcare.
I have had people in my life reach out proactively to help me relocate by having a place to stay, and maybe some work lined up. I have a remote corporate gig that may or may not allow me to relocate regions.
Currently I’m looking at Bay-Area California (expensive, but likely work, place to crash, and an affordable roommate situation), or Southern Vermont (potentially more money to help me relocate, less resources around than California, still very trans friendly).
I don’t know how this affects a *lot* of my life. There are quite a number of things to figure out. I am very fortunate to even have these possible options. I will be *incredibly* sad if I leave Ellijay. I have a good community here. I feel many, many ways right now, and I do not know what I will do, or when I will know.
Anyway. Any of y’all have thoughts on Vermont or California?
