His analogy of democracy being quasi-religious for him is I think the most accurate way I’ve ever heard someone talk about it though. I do think people believe in it. Believe. They believe in it. It is something you want to believe, but mere belief doesn’t make it right or good. Religion is—on the whole—often just as flawed, despite any beliefs people may have about it.
I think the better takeaway is that you recognize this and snap out of it. That you realize this is not the only religion.
