This will probably be a long note. But here it goes:
Ever since a friend of mine introduced me to Bitcoin (and a lot of Shitcoins aswell) we had a small chatgroup where we talk about Bitcoin, and economics as a whole, in a very broad aspect: loans, work, Shitcoins, sometimes Politics, etc…
At one point I decided to just stick to Bitcoin, because I was fed up with shitcoinery… so I started DCA into Bitcoin, the rest of that group was sticking to shitcoins, knowing that the upside potential could be much higher, like Shitcoin X could possibly do a 10x or even more, not looking at the fundamentals of that shitcoin, not caring about how centralized it is, not caring about how it’s a huge pile of shit. I kept doing my DCA, and they were questioning me.
“Why is Bitcoin the better option?”
Trying to compare it to cars:
“Why would I buy an old car, if I could buy a newer better one?”
I tried to explain why Bitcoin simply is better, not sure if they fully understood it, but I don’t think they really cared.
At the time I explained myself that Bitcoin might not have the biggest upside potential in the short term, but it’s the safest and best asset/investment out there. But they rather listen to the big talkers and the loudmouths.
I’ve seen the NFT craze pass by, and I didn’t care one bit.
“This NFT project is insane, you should really look into this!”
I honestly did not care, why would I buy a jpeg? And let’s be honest here, all of those jpegs are ugly AF. I kinda get the idea behind it… but it’s a pile of shit.
I stuck to Bitcoin, the NFT craze had died and the chatgroup lived on. When I ask about their NFT’s now, they’re really quiet lol.
I bought a copy of the Bitcoin Standard saifedean (npub1gdu…6nak) 👏
and I started reading it, sometimes I referred to the book, but at that point I already knew it didn’t make sense to them.
Time passed by and I kept studying Bitcoin and I kept doing my DCA because I truly believe in Bitcoin and I know why it’s a necessity, sometimes I tried to convince them to look into Bitcoin, and try to understand it.
But to them, I made no sense. Some of them bought some more Shitcoins, hoping to make a quick buck. I tried to explain that it doesn’t make sense to buy shitcoins, I tried several times.
At this point it’s all about memecoins, of which they’re hoping to get in early, again, wanting to make a quick buck.
I didn’t want to waste my time again, so I decided to quit it and just leave that group, and tbh I kinda have mixed feelings about it. I know I don’t need the Shitcoin talks at all. But to me it feels like I’m turning my back on them. It feels like I failed on them. I know there’s no hard feelings involved, but still…
It’s just of no use to me anymore, so I decided to leave and just continue on my own, and focus on Bitcoin only.
They’ll get it at the price they deserve I guess.
There, I’ve said it.
