I hate that people wait all their lives for the good part (retirement). do you remember when, in the Last Unicorn, Molly Grue cries out in anguish to the unicorn, “how dare you come to me now, when I am this?” I think if I received all my peace and goodness at the end of my life I would think of it like that.
