Well, I don’t think all left wingers are insincere or untrustworthy. I have stayed close with the non-woke ones since hitting peak progressive (not just peak trans) and I think the old school types are just like anyone else, but with a preference for leftist economic policies. Also, I’m not really for or against Israel. I gather it offers a better system, especially for women, than Islamic countries, but it’s not my country, I’ve never been there, and I view it as neutrally as I do Thailand or Brazil. I think it should protect its citizens, but I think more about what I think my own country should do, like keeping more of our money at home. Not sending money (directly or indirectly) to Hamas while that group held, and planned to keep holding, American hostages is the biggest no-brainer to me, but I also would like to send less money to Israel (not just now, but every year). Frankly, too, though I was very apt to be sympathetic to Israel on October 7, I haven’t been very keen on its “any criticism of us is inherently anti-Semitic” stance since then.
