Mastodon had its chance at massive growth two years ago. It chose not to make itself more difficult to join; it chose to retain a more difficult UX and decided on many things Bluesky did differently. And if it wants to stay smaller, that’s fine. But today is Bluesky's day in the sun, and make no doubt about it, it will easily eclipse Mastodon by a factor of 10.
